Kinsmen and Kinettes of Saskatchewan
and District Three The Kinsmen and Kinette Association has had a long relationship with Saskatchewan, District 3. The first Kinsmen club, Regina Queen City Kinsmen, was chartered January 19th, 1927 in Regina. They were also the first club to charter another club in the Province, the Moose Jaw Kinsmen in 1929. Moose Jaw disbanded in 1932 only to be rechartered by the Regina club again in 1943. In 1925 discussions between the Kinsmen Association and the Eclectic clubs of Saskatchewan were started and were completed by 1927. The Right Honorable John Diefenbaker, member of the executive of the Eclectics and Jack Gifford national president, oversaw the merger talks. January 15th, 1928 saw the Eclectic Clubs of Saskatoon, North Battleford and Lloydminster change to Kinsmen Clubs. The Eclectic Club of Prince Albert changed later on that year. District Three Kinsmen and Kinettes have become an intrical part of Saskatchewan life. We have the second largest membership in the association with the smallest population base. We raise more money than any other District, a large part due to Telemiracle. We are divided into 9 Zones, named A to I. We have had dedicated District Kinsmen Governors and Kinette Coordinators, now called Kinette Governors, who have led our province into the forefront of Kin volunteerism in Canada. We are all proud to be Kin members, where we Serve Our Communities Greatest Need! |
